The one-year Introduction to Christian Formation and Discipleship programme is comprised of three-modules, offering an overview of the basics of Christian formation and discipleship. During the year of study participants will complete three distance learning modules, each including independent study in the participant’s ministry context and a one-week on-site intensive in Harpenden, England.
The first module looks at the Story of God through the history of the Bible and the Church, the role of spiritual disciplines in personal development, and knowing God as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The second module looks at the life of Jesus as our model for growth and development. Participants will explore their personal narrative, the ways each individual’s narrative shapes them, and the implications of human development on discipleship.
The third module explores various ways the Church and the individual participate in God’s kingdom coming to earth through dynamic co-creating with God.
After completion of the third module, participants will draw from the content of each of the three modules to complete an integrative assignment.
Over the course of the programme participants will reflect on the significance of God’s Trinitarian nature, the role of Holy Spirit and community in discipleship and growth, and how the transformation of the individual is part of bringing the Kingdom to earth, leading to restoration of all creation.
